About BuiltAG

BuiltAG exists for one simple reason: too much of the automation advice on the internet is written by people who have never shipped a workflow in their lives. Search for any tool comparison and you'll find the same pattern — a listicle scraped from pricing pages, a pros-and-cons table copied from the vendor's own marketing site, and a verdict that hedges so hard it says nothing. We built this site because we were tired of reading that material, and we suspect you are too.

Who we are

BuiltAG is run by working automation practitioners. Our day jobs are building and maintaining the kind of workflows we write about: lead routing for small sales teams, invoice-chasing sequences for solo consultants, onboarding pipelines for agencies, research agents that read more in an afternoon than we could in a week. We are not developers by trade. We learned these tools the same way you probably will — by breaking things at 11pm before a deadline and figuring out why.

What we actually do

Every workflow described on this site was actually run. Not "tested in a free tier for twenty minutes" — run, in production, with real data, for long enough to see the failure modes. When we tell you a webhook step failed silently when the payload exceeded a size limit, that's because it failed silently on us. When we say a pricing tier stops being enough at roughly two thousand runs a month, that's because ours stopped.

This matters because automation tools have a peculiar property: their marketing pages show you the happy path, and the happy path is maybe 80% of the work. The other 20% — the retries, the rate limits, the "what happens when the API changes its response shape" — is where your actual time goes. Our job is to document that 20% so you can budget it before you commit, not after.

Why "BuiltAG"

The name is the job description: things we built — automations, workflows, and AI agents (the AG). Every article is one of those builds written down: this ran, this cost us a weekend, this one we'd build differently next time.

What we cover

We focus on four areas, chosen because they're where the questions actually are for people who automate a business but don't write code: tool comparisons (n8n, Make, Zapier, Power Automate and friends), step-by-step workflow tutorials, AI agent building guides for the post-hype era, and business cases with the ROI math shown so you can check our arithmetic.

How the site makes money

BuiltAG is a business, and we're upfront about how it earns. We run display advertising, and some links to tools are affiliate links — if you subscribe through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Neither changes our verdicts: see our affiliate disclosure andeditorial policy for the details of how we keep them separate.
