Affiliate Disclosure

Last updated: September 30, 2026

The short version

Some links on BuiltAG are affiliate links. If you click one and subscribe to a paid tool plan, we may earn a commission from the vendor, at no extra cost to you. This is how a large part of the internet funds itself, and we'd rather tell you plainly than hide it in a footer.

What this means in practice

An affiliate link is a referral. When you sign up through one, the vendor pays us a percentage of your subscription — commonly 20–30% recurring for automation SaaS — for referring you. You pay exactly the same price you would have paid by going directly. The vendor's marketing budget funds it, not you.

Which programs we participate in

We participate in affiliate programs for tools we cover where programs exist, including but not limited to: n8n (cloud plans),Make, Zapier, and other automation and productivity tools reviewed on this site. The list changes as programs open and close; we don't list every partner on every page, but every affiliate link is marked the same way technically: it carries rel="sponsored" in the page's HTML.

Why commissions don't change our verdicts

Three reasons, in ascending order of importance:

  1. Our readers would notice. BuiltAG's whole premise is that we tell you what actually broke and what it cost. A verdict that magically favors the highest bidder destroys the one thing the site has.
  2. The math would be wrong anyway. Our most-recommended free tier (self-hosted n8n) earns us exactly $0 in commissions. We recommend it anyway because for many readers it's the right answer. You can verify pricing claims against vendor pages yourself — we link them.
  3. It's the law. The United States Federal Trade Commission requires that material connections between a reviewer and a vendor be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. Every article containing affiliate links carries a disclosure near the top, before you've read far enough for opinions to form. That's not just compliance; it's the correct behavior.

How we mark affiliate links

What we don't do

We don't take payment for positive coverage. We don't publish sponsored posts disguised as reviews. We don't participate in "pay to play" roundup placements. If a vendor offers us a free subscription to evaluate, we disclose it in the relevant article — see the editorial policy for how we test and what we pay for.
